Creative test of academics

Jamshedpur, July 17: Students of Little Flower School put their creativity to good use today at an exhibition-cum-contest of models organised on the institution’s campus.

Students from Classes VI to X displayed models on mathematics, science, history and geography.

Lie detectors, lighthouses, electricity transmissions, volcanoes, solar and lunar eclipses as well as electromagnetic fields were explained using the models made by the students. The civilisations of Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley, historical monuments of India were also on display at the event organised by the school’s student council.

Sangeeta Chatrath, the physics teacher of Little Flower School and the event co-ordinator, appreciated the efforts of the students.

“The basic aim of this model display was to bring forth the talents of the students. Practical implementation of the knowledge is as important as theoretical education. Through this exhibition, the students have made good use of the knowledge gained in classrooms and explained it using their creative skills,” she added.

The models were made using paper, clay, plastic, thermocol and paint.

Chatrath said teachers were asked to judge the best models made by the students. “The results will be declared at the annual school fest, Odyssey, to be held on July 24,” she added.

Geography teacher Monicka Das Paul said: “It feels great to see the children putting in so much efforts. The children are intelligent and talented. Their work speaks highly about their creativity.”

Anish Chatrath of Class IX made a model on transmission of electricity that received a lot of attention.

A model showing the Jallianwala Bagh massacre was also appreciated.

Plant head of Tata Motors S.B. Borwankar, who was the chief guest, was impressed with the exhibition. “It was time well spent,” he added.

All enthusiastic participants are eagerly waiting for July 24, when the winners of the model display contest would be declared.
