Calcutta: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday appointed Allan Hurst and Chris Broad as match referees for the ensuing India-Sri Lanka Test and one-day International series respectively.
According to an ICC release, Englands Mark Benson and the West Indian Billy Doctrove will officiate the opening Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo from July 23-27.
Doctrove will be accompanied by South African Rudi Koertzen for the second Test in Galle starting from July 31 while Benson and Koertzen will stand in the third and final Test at Colombos Premadasa Stadium scheduled from August 8.
Meanwhile, the entire ODI series will be officiated by Doctrove and a local umpire.
The Test series will also witness the trial of the umpire decision review system with Koertzen as the TV umpire in the first Test while Benson and Doctrove will fill the role in the second and third Tests, respectively. The review system trial will not be applicable to the following ODI series.
