Imphal, July 13: Andro Mahila Mandal Association yesterday emerged champions in the Kshetrimayum Iboyaima Memorial Football League Tournament 2008 despite a 3-3 draw against Eastern Sporting Union in the last league match at Thambalkong ground.

Among the three teams that participated in the championship, the title run was between Andro Mahila Mandal Association and Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club who shared three points each and similar goal average.

But the victory of Andro Mahila following the toss of a coin in yesterday’s match deprived Naharol Yaipha girls of the crown. The toss followed the draw.

On Friday, Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club emerged champions in the senior category defeating Eastern Sporting Union.

The Naharol girls, however, failed to follow in their seniors’ footsteps.

In yesterday’s match, Eastern Sporting Union’s Th. Umabati Devi’s goal was equalised by Ch. Basanti Devi of Andro Mahila Mandal Association.

Eastern Sporting rode ahead after P. Bijeta Devi made it 2-1.

In the second half, Eastern Sporting Union’s W. Komlabati Devi scored the team’s third goal in the 42nd minute.

Ph. Bina Devi scored two goals to level the score.
