Insurance benefits

New Delhi, July 13 (PTI): Insurance companies are required to reimburse expenses incurred on life-saving external aids such as pacemaker, the breathing device CPAP and artificial limbs, the Delhi consumer commission said.

The commission’s consumer-friendly observations came after an appeal by the National Insurance Company Ltd, which had said the policy terms did not allow it to reimburse customers for external aids.

Truck tragedy

Dehra Dun (PTI): At least 10 people were killed and 38 injured when a truck carrying them collided with a bus in Haridwar on Sunday. The passengers of the Uttarakhand roadways bus which had started from Delhi, however, escaped with minor injuries.

‘Killer’ mate

Rajkot (PTI): A 19-year-old student was allegedly stabbed to death by his roommate in a hotel management institute here, police said on Sunday. The two had quarreled over which televis ion programme to watch.

Gandhi flak

Ahmedabad (PTI): The construction of a Gandhi memorial on Chowpatti beach by the state government is facing protests in Porbandar, the birthplace of the Mahatma, on grounds that it would affect the city’s natural beauty.
