Lisbon: Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has been appointed Portugal coach, the Portuguese Soccer Federation (FPF) said on Friday.

Queiroz, who fills the post left vacant by Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari, will sign a four-year contract.

Meanwhile, in London Portsmouth completed the signing of England striker Peter Crouch from Liverpool on Friday with the 27-year-old signing a four-year contract.
