Imphal, July 11: A five-day Manipur Elite Referees’ Course, conducted under the patronage of AFC and AIFF, got under way at the AFC Vision Office at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex today.
Ex-FIFA referee Sumanta Kumar Ghosh will conduct the course. The course will include field training, physical training, theoretical aspects, match situation exercise and physical fitness training.
Around 70 national as well as state-class referees will be attending the residential course here.
Ghosh, in his brief speech, said it was sad that Manipur had produced many well-known footballers for the country yet not a single FIFA referee had emerged from the state. He added that he would focus more on the practical aspect of refereeing.
All Manipur Football Association president Arambam Santoshkumar Singh said referees should have a one-mind one-decision stand during a game.
