Frequent cancellation derails travel plans

Jamshedpur, July 11: Of late, the passengers boarding trains at Tatanagar are going through a harrowing experience due to cancellation or rescheduling of departure time at the eleventh hour.

Tata-Yeshwantpur Express was cancelled two hours before its scheduled departure on Thursday evening. Worse, the information related to delayed departure of Tata-Danapur Express was made public moments before its scheduled departure. “We were informed that Tata-Yeshwantpur Express would leave Tatanagar at 7pm. We reached the station accordingly. We were told there that the train was cancelled,” said A.K. Singh, who was about to travel with his family on the train last evening.

Singh told The Telegraph that he had no alternative but to cancel the ticket and book a fresh one on Tatkal. Numerous passengers faced the same fate. The passengers of Tata-Danapur Express complained about frequent cancellation of the train over the past few days without prior information. “During the past week the train was cancelled thrice,” said Sumit Jha, a passenger. Railway officials said the cancellation and rescheduling of trains were being done as the situation after the recent flood was yet to improve.
