Imphal, July 9: Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club held Eastern Sporting Union to a 1-1 draw in the Kshetrimayum Iboyaima Women’s Football Tournament, 2008 played at the Thambalkong ground.

After a two-day break, both the teams looked fresh and promising at the start.

In the 19th minute, Eastern Union broke the deadlock when L. Naobi Devi scored to give her team the lead.

However, the Naharol Yipha team, with international striker Ng. Bala Devi in their rank, picked up pace and forced its rival on the defensive on one or two occasions in the first half.

In a quick run on the flank by the Naharol Yaipha team, Ng. Bala Devi received a pass in the penalty areas and she drove hard to beat the keeper for the equaliser in the 26th minute to level the score.

In the second half, despite both teams going all out for the winning goal, both failed to consolidate further, thus ending in a 1-1 draw.
