Samsung tweaks strategy
Samsung India has announced new strategies to strengthen its printer business, one of its key growth engines for 2008. The company has launched seven printer models, including the Laser Printer ML 2245. The company aims to double its printer sales and marketing manpower this year and has created a new regional structure with regional managers responsible for growth
their regions.
Manaksia Ltd
Manaksia Ltd has declared a 100 per cent dividend. The company’s consolidated net sales for 2007-08 fiscal stands at Rs 1,147.37 crore against Rs 827.76 crore last year. For the year ended March 31,2008, the year-on-year profit after tax rose 39.28 per cent to Rs 128.19 crore from Rs 92.03 crore.
Siemens order
Siemens has secured two major orders from Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) at Visakhapatnam. The first order is for the power supply and augmentation package and the second order is for the plant material handling systems. The total value of both the orders is Rs 161.4 crore
Unity contract
Unity Infraprojects Ltd has received a contract worth Rs 135.7 crore from the Assam government to construct Tezpur Medical College at Bihogun. Unity’s stake in the project is 51 per cent and the balance is with the Brahmaputra Group.
Reliance debut
Reliance Money has made its debut in Saudi Arabia by launching the Riyada Reliance Money in collaboration with Riyada Consulting. The new company will raise Riyal 20 crore from Gulf institutional investors by diluting stake. The company will launch broking, investment banking, corporate finance advisory, custody and asset management services.
Aegon licence
Aegon Religare Life Insurance Company Ltd, a joint venture between Aegon and Religare, has received the R3 license, from the Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority to operate in the life insurance space.

India Infoline has been awarded the best broker in India by Finance Asia after its annual survey of the best financial services firms in each country in Asia from June 2007 to May 2008.

Havells India Ltd, the $1.2-billion enterprise, has inaugurated its office in Calcutta to tap the vast opportunities in Bengal.

Virgin Mobile has launched the vTrendy handset, priced at Rs 1,499. The phone, featuring FM radio, speakerphone, organiser and VAS data portal, comes with a lifetime validity recharge and a starter user kit. Virgin Mobile is the service brand of Tata Teleservices.
