GDD promise
The secretary of Guwahati development department, A.K. Bhutani, has assured the people, who have been evicted from the Panbazar railway colony, of constructing houses for them under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. This was informed through a statement issued by the convenor of Panbazar railway colony branch of the Guwahati Mahanagar Unnayan Samity, Dinanath Basfor.
Complaints
The Guwahati office of Reserve Bank of India has set up a complaints redressal cell for prompt redress of complaints made by the common people against any department of the bank. One can lodge complaint at the cell situated at the RBI office near Guwahati railway station.
Drama
The North East Zone Cultural Centre sponsored a two-day drama festival-cum-Goalparia folk song programme at Shilpgram at Panjabari on Sunday.
Meeting
A general body meeting of the Lawyers’ Association, Guwahati, recently elected its executive committee for 2008-09 with Rohini Kumar Das as president, Ramesh Kumar Jain and Pulin Chandra Goswami as vice-presidents, and Dipak Kumar Das as secretary.
Admission
Cotton College will start selling admission forms for the first semester of MA and MSc at the administrative building of the college from Thursday.
Function
A general meeting of Beltola Mahila Congress was held in Dispur on Saturday. Akon Bora, MLA of Dispur Assembly constituency attended the function and appealed to the workers to work with dedication for the Congress.
