Lawn bowls medals

Guwahati: Assam bagged a gold and a bronze medal in the mixed triples event of the 1st Federation Cup all-India Lawn Bowls Championship held in Ranchi from June 25 to 27. The team of Liaquat Ali Jan, L. Pranab Singh and Nayanmoni Saikia bagged the gold while the team of Bablee Choudhury, Bongita Hazarika and Mridul Bora won the bronze. Choudhury and Bora have also been named as probables for in the six-member Indian squad for the Maradeka Cup championship to be held in Malaysia during July-August.

Assam shuttler

Guwahati: Assam shuttler Kristi Das has been included in the senior Indian squad for the Vietnam Open International Badminton Championship to be held in Ho Chi Minh City from July 1 to 6. Das has left from Calcutta on Saturday.

Badminton

Imphal: The Manipur Badminton Association will hold two championships simultaneously at the MBA Indoor Stadium of D.M. College from August 18-23. The 27th Inter-District Championship will be played on August 18 and 19, while the 53rd State Badminton Championship will be held from August 20 to 23.

Kickboxing

Guwahati: The 2nd all-Assam inter-district kickboxing championship will be held at Chenimari in Barpeta district from July 4 to 6. The Assam squad for the 22nd National Kickboxing Championship, to be held at SAI Complex in Calcutta from August 5 to 10, will be selected here.
