Officers spar over dog death

Hazaribagh, June 28: Regional animal husbandry officer R.K. Tirkey and block supply officer Vijay Mohan Mishra are on a warpath — over the death of a dog.

Once on good terms, the duo lodged cases against each other this afternoon.

The fallout occurred when Bullu, one of Mishra’s high-breed Doberman dogs, became ill yesterday afternoon. Mishra, who resides near Circuit House on Ranchi-Patna Highway, immediately called Tirkey.

“We waited for him but he didn’t come and Bullu died unattended. Tirkey was responsible and we will take steps to book him for this death,” Mishra’s wife Neetu told The Telegraph.

Today, Mishra lodged an FIR against Tirkey in Sadar police station charging him for negligence, resulting in death.

In turn, Tirkey also filed a case under the SC/ST act for objectionable remarks against him. He said: “I was busy with official work the whole day. I have to look after several districts but still I sent a doctor to their house. Later, the family made several objectionable comments about my caste.”
