New Delhi: Twenty years after it came into existence, the Tata Football Academy (TFA) has decided to import technology for coaching methods.
According to Sanjeev Singh, chief, Sports and TFA, Tata Steel, the Jamshedpur-based academy is likely to tie up with a top English football club like Manchester United or Everton with an aim to impart modern training to its wards in the institution.
The TFA had always remained loyal to Indian coaches. The list of former coaches in the TFA includes some of the legends of Indian football like Chuni Goswami, P.K. Banerjee, Arun Ghosh and Mohammed Habib.
Currently, Ranjan Chowdhury, along with former India captain Carlton Chapman and former international Vijay Kumar are imparting training.
Speaking to The Telegraph on Friday, Singh, himself a former international archer, said: We are in talks with some of the best clubs in England.
We already held a discussion with the Everton Club. Next month the officials of the Sheffield United Club are coming down here for a meeting. Our management is also likely to talk to Manchester United in this regard, Sanjeev Singh informed.
