Militants call truce
Silchar, June 27:
The militant outfit of Reang community, the United Liberation Front of Barak Valley, declared a ceasefire with police and security forces in Assam’s Hailakandi district by pledging suspension of their operations for a period of three months with effect from June 7.
Body found
Guwahati:
The body of a former BLT member, Biru Basumatary, was recovered from the Mainashree area along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border in Sontipur district on Friday. Biru was kidnapped about 10 days back.
Death
Goalpara:
The medical and health officer of Baguan state dispensary, Goalpara, P. Basumatary, 55, was found dead in his official quarters on Friday.
Two held
Dhubri:
Police and the army on Friday arrested two persons, Zehirul Islam and Abdul Rahim, with 1kg fake gold and a pistol from the Gossaibari area under South Salmara police station of Dhubri district.
