Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian state of Selangor has become the latest addition to the burgeoning Asian Tour calendar, hosting a tournament in August.
The Selangor Masters will make debut on August 6 and offer $310,000 as prize money, organisers said on Tuesday.
Asias top stars including Malaysian stalwarts Airil Rizman, Danny Chia and Iain Steel will assemble at the Seri Selangor Golf Club, Malaysias first bona fide public golf course, to challenge for the trophy.
The inclusion of the Masters lifts the Asian tour to phenomenal heights with the new event swelling its schedule to record 29 tournaments this year offering more than $38 million.
Malaysia now hosts three Asian tour events, with the others being the Maybank Malaysian Open and the Fortis International Challenge.
