Rs 21 lakh & mobile phones stolen

Ranchi, June 22: Two loots have been reported from the state capital in the past 24 hours and the police are yet to make a breakthrough into the incidents.

Six armed criminals looted Rs 21 lakh and five cellphones from Rungta Private Limited (RPL) at Khelari, around 70km from the city, late Saturday night.

A cook sustained minor injuries in the incident. An FIR has been lodged in this connection.

Police sources said the criminals first nabbed a night guard, three employees and a cook, who were in the office-cum-guesthouse, to commit the crime.

“After getting a hold over the five persons, the criminals broke the steel cupboard open where the cash was stored for labour payment and carried out their 10-minute operation,” an official at Khelari police station said.

Police are yet to make a breakthrough in this case.

In yet another incident, three motorcycle-borne criminals looted Rs 70,000 from three persons from the Vaishnavi Gas Agency at Balalong under the Dhurwa police station area at 2pm today.

The three persons included an account clerk of the gas agency, Ajay Singh, and two truck drivers.

While Rs 66,500 was looted from the clerk, Rs 3,500 was looted from the two truck drivers who had come to godown with LPG cylinders. An FIR has been lodged in this connection.

Police sources said the incident took place when godown officials were busy calculating the day’s earnings.

However, it is reported that no one sustained injuries in this incident.
