Dairy plant to start rolling

Ranchi, June 19: Union and food processing minister Subodh Kant Sahay will be inaugurating the milk processing plant at Pali village of Ormanjhi block tomorrow.

Jharkhand Dairy Private Limited (JDPL) will manage the plant. Guest of honour at the function would be M.D. Mallya, the chairman-cum-managing director of the Bank of Baroda.

While addressing the media persons here today, advisor of the JDPL, Rajiv Ranjan, said they would be producing three categories of milk — standard, toned and cow milk. “We would also produce other milk products like lassi, curd and ice-creams,” said Ranjan.

He added that the plant has the capacity of handling 30,000 litres of milk per day, which is expandable to 1 lakh litre.

“While the plant has a 5,000 litre capacity per day of handling ice-cream, curd and lassi,” Ranjan said.

Ranjan added that they will be collecting the milk from local farmers and processing in the plant.

“Besides, we have also laid stress on cold chains to keep the quality of products at the optimum-level,” Ranjan told newspersons today.

Besides, they will also lay stress on backward integration and will help small farmers open a small dairy farm and provide them with cattle.
