Houghton sticks to tested players

New Delhi: National coach Bob Houghton has decided to stick to the tried and tested lot of players for the AFC Challenge Cup to be played in Hyderabad in August.

On Wednesday, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) released the list of 31 footballers called for the national camp beginning in Delhi on June 24.

All these players were in the camp at Goa at the start of the season.

Houghton has also decided to call players like Sandeep Nandy, Surkumar Singh, Clifford Miranda, K Ajayan and Baldeep Singh, who were injured before the SAFF Cup. The team will go to Portugal for a preparatory tour in July.

PROBABLES LIST

Goalkeepers: Subrata Pal, Sandeep Nandy, Subhashish Roy Chowdhury and Arindam Bhattacharya. Defenders: Dipak Mondal, Mahesh Gawli, Gourmangi Singh, Anwar Ali, Samir Naik, Surkumar Singh, NS Manju, Syed Rahim Nabi, Rakesh Masih, Denzil Franco and Govin Mojranginem.Midfielders: Steven Dias, Climax Lawrence, NP Pradeep, Renedy Singh, Bungo Singh, Mehrajuddin Wadoo, Kuttamani, K Ajayan, Clifford Miranda and Baldeep Singh (Jr). Forwards: Bhaichung Bhutia, Sunil Chhetri, Manjit Singh, Abhishek Yadav, Sushil Singh and Tarif Ahmed.
