Bumpy ride to greet visitors

Ranchi, June 18: Wide and improved national highways passing through the state ahead of the National Games appears unlikely.

For, chief minister Madhu Koda’s effort to meet Union highways minister T.R. Baalu during his Delhi visit last Saturday to appraise him about the importance of good roads before the Games came a cropper. For, his appointment with Baalu was cancelled owing to the latter’s sudden engagement.

As things stand now, Jharkhand will be compelled to give a bumpy welcome ride to its visitors during the National Games.

Former Rajya Sabha member Ajay Maroo said that NDA had approved the proposal for broadening NH-33, linking Barhi with Behragora. But the project was put on the back burner soon after UPA came to power, he claimed.

But Koda is still hopeful about the project. He might visit Delhi regarding the same again.
