Four of the six consortiums and companies shortlisted for construction of Calcutta airport’s integrated terminal building on Monday submitted their technical and financial bids which will be opened in a week.
“The implementing agency for the project will be selected after opening the bids on June 23,” the executive director (projects) of Calcutta airport, S.P.S. Bakshi, said.
The Rs 2,000-crore modernisation project for Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport was scheduled to take off on January 1 this year but was caught in red tape.
The three consortiums that submitted bids are Pomerleau Inc-CCCL, ITD-ITD CEM and TAV Tepe Akfer Yatirim Insaatve Isleme AS-Punj Lloyd Ltd. Larsen & Toubro Ltd also submitted its bid in Delhi.
The Turkey-based TAV Tepe Akfer Yatirim Insaatve Isleme AS is among the largest companies involved in building airports. It is constructing the terminal buildings of 14 airports, including the new Doha international airport. Punj-Lloyd is an infrastructure company whose subsidiary in Singapore built the Light Rail Transit there.
The ITD group was among the companies that built the terminal building and developed the airfield in Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport, one of the largest in Asia. The other partner in the consortium, ITD-CEM of India, is involved in the Delhi Metro Rail project.
Formerly known as Herve Pomerleau International, Canadian company Pomerleau Inc is also into building airports and other infrastructure.
Larsen & Toubro built and operates the Bangalore International Airport.
