Expedition

Keeping with the Indian Army’s age-old tradition of engaging itself in adventures, the Kripan Division is organising an expedition from Binnaguri Military Station to the Muguthang Sector in North Sikkim on May 24.

The expedition, conceived by Maj. Gen. P.S. Bhalla, is an effort towards developing love for nature, mountains, flora and fauna among the men in uniform.

The team comprises three officers, three junior commissioned officers and 38 jawans, and is being led by Lt Shanu Krishna. It will traverse mountains and Jongsang Glacier over a period of one month.

The team primarily comprises the personnel of a battalion of the Punjab Regiment (Patiala), apart from representatives of other services of the Indian Army. The Punjab Battalion has just returned from Lebanon, where they served as part of the United Nation Interim Force and proved to the world that when it comes to leadership, courage and spirit of adventure, the Indian Army is second to none.
