Tenero: Germany forward Lukas Podolski missed training on Friday because of a left ankle injury. Germany coach Joachim Loew said he hoped Podolski, who has scored all three of the team’s goals at Euro 2008, would be ready for Monday’s final group B match against Austria.

Zambrotta off to AC Milan

Barcelona: Italy defender Gianluca Zambrotta’s transfer from FC Barcelona to AC Milan was completed on Friday. Barcelona said they will receive euro 9 million ($13.8 million) for Zambrotta, who has agreed to a four-year contract.

Kuhn wife out of coma

Berne: Switzerland coach Koebi Kuhn’s wife has been woken from a nine-day coma, he was quoted as saying by Swiss media on Friday. Kuhn said he had been told the news on Thursday.

Alice Kuhn was rushed to hospital after suffering an epileptic attack on June 2 and was put into an induced coma.
