Loan suicide

Nashik, June 13 (PTI): A 50-year-old man committed suicide at his home yesterday after being harassed by the loan-recovery agents of a financial company.

Uttam Prabhakar Kurane was allegedly beaten up by the agents on Nashik-Pune road on May 26 . His relatives and Shiv Sena activists staged a dharna in front of Sinnar police station demanding the arrest of the agents.

Honest youth

Chandigarh (PTI): An unemployed youth who found a bag containing travel documents and Rs 2 lakh in foreign currency has handed it over to police. Darshan Singh, an NRI from the US, to whom the bag belongs, has announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for Shamsher Singh.

CBI lie test

New Delhi (PTI): The CBI on Friday conducted a lie-detector test on Vijay Bharadwaj, the property dealer who allegedly gunned down assistant commissioner of Delhi police Rajbir Singh. Bharadwaj had told the media immediately after the March 24 murder that he had killed his friend at his Gurgaon office.

Police rap

Nashik (PTI): Five policemen, including an inspector, were suspended on Thursday for hanging on to half the booty recovered from a thief. The thief had stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 25 lakh from a jeweller.

AIDS kids

Kottayam (PTI): The Kerala government has directed a school to admit five Class V children suffering from AIDS. Parents had threatened to pull their children out of the government high school in Alampally if the five infected kids were admitted.

Student killed

Muzaffarnagar (PTI): A student in this district of Uttar Pradesh was stabbed to death on Friday by his college mates. Mohit, a BA student at S.D. Degree College, was killed on the campus allegedly because of an old enmity.
