Memo to PM
The Opposition councillors of the dissolved council of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation on Friday submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi seeking his intervention in the “unconstitutional” dissolution of the elected council body of the GMC by the Assam government. The memorandum was submitted by a nine-member delegation of the Opposition councillors, who were accompanied by AGP Lok Sabha MP Sarbananda Sonowal.
DoNER and panchayati raj minister Mani Shankar Aiyar will visit the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship in the city on Sunday.
The Assam Science Society will organise a daylong seminar on climate change at Pragjyoti ITA cultural centre at Machkhowa on Saturday. About 100 participants from different districts will attend the seminar.
