North East Moto Cross

Guwahati: Shyamal Pathak of North Guwahati emerged champion in the exert class category in the1st North- East Prize-Money Moto Cross Championship organised by Guwahati Riders Club at Gopal Boro Govt HS School ground here on Sunday. Hiten Das (North Guwahati) and Dipak Boro (Guwahati) bagged the silver and bronze respectively. Anthony Lyngdoh of Meghalaya became the open class champion while Safiqul Zaman of Guwahati claimed the 4-stroke class gold. Guwahati riders Koustav Kumar Baruah and David Gerad Brown bagged the silver and bronze respectively in 4-stroke class.

Kickboxing

Guwahati: The Barpeta District Kickboxing Association will host the 2nd All Assam Inter-district Kickboxing Championship on the Chenimari Azad High School premises from July 4 to 6. The state team for the 22nd National Championship, to be held at SAI Calcutta from August 6 to 10, will be selected from the meet.

Chess AGM

Guwahati: Bibhuti Gogoi has been elected president and Arindam Baruah general secretary of the All Assam Chess Association for the next two years in the annual general meeting of the association at Sivasagar on Thursday. Nayan Kumar Dutta has been elected treasurer.
