Bokaro/Dhanbad, May 30: After the success of 92 students last year, more than 103 students from Bokaro cleared the IIT entrance exam in 2008.

Most of the successful students in Bokaro this year hail from Delhi Public School, followed by Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Pentacostal School and St Xavier’s.

Principal of Delhi Public School, Bokaro, Hemlata S. Mohan said she had received news of 48 school students clearing the exam but the number could rise. Successful students include Nilesh Choubey, Sagar Setu, Manswi, Pravin Kumar, Deepankar, Mantu Kumar, Ashutosh and Ajit Singh, among others.

Authorities of Chinmaya Vidyalaya claimed that 18 of their students — including Shubham Bhowmik, Abhishek, Ishan Anand, Shailesh Choubey, Priyangshu Raj, Rishi Ranjan, B. Ved Prakash and Md Ramiz — had cleared the entrance test. Six Pentacostal School students emerged successful, which is a record, said director of the school D.N. Prasad. Four students of St Xavier’s also cracked the exams, with Saumya (who ranked 946th) leading the others.

In Dhanbad, 13 boys from Delhi Public School, two from DAV Public School, Koylanagar, and two from Rajkamal Saraswati were declared successful.

Rohit Kumar Saraf from Doon Public School, Dhanbad, ranked 53rd. He had scored 91.2 per cent in his Plus Two exams. A resident of Baghmara, the son of Ramesh Saraf, has been called for counselling for Indian School of Mines University on June 18.

Coaching institutes also claimed a share in the success of the state students.
