Srinagar: Mohun Bagans Ishfaq Ahmed, scored four goals as hosts Jammu & Kashmir advanced into the pre-quarter finals of the 62nd Santosh Trophy National Football Championship trouncing Himachal Pradesh 8-0 in a Cluster IV match at Polo Ground on Thursday.
Ishfaq scored his first one in the 14th minute and manage adding three more in the 18th, 36th and 78th minutes.
His first goal unsettled the opponents who conceded four more goals in the first half. Bilal made it 2-0 in the 16th minute while Waseem made it 5-0 just a minute before the breather of their last group match.
After the change of ends, Himachal made some threatening moves but could not come close to scoring. In fact, home team goalkeeper Tanveer Ahmed was tested only once in the entire match.
Cheered by the local supporters, hosts added three more goals in the second session, scored by captain Shahnaz Iqbal, Taufeeq.
In other matches, while Tripura drubbed Gujarat 5-0, Goa outplayed Uttarakhand 3-1 with Orissa drew with Services 1-1 and Daman and Diu beat Puducherry 2-1. (PTI)
