Bata man goes missing

Siliguri, May 28: An employee of a shoe company showroom in Darjeeling went missing in Siliguri last night. Rana Bardhan, who worked at the Bata showroom in the hill town, was on his way home.

“Bardhan reached Siliguri around 9pm and there has been no trace of him after that,” said additional superintendent of police Rajesh Yadav.


Sandalwood

Cooch Behar: Three trucks loaded with sandalwood were impounded at the Changrabandha land customs station on Wednesday afternoon. Although Cooch Behar customs officials said some persons were arrested, they refused to specify the exact number.


Shops gutted

Siliguri: Three shops and two houses were gutted in a fire that broke out at Sevoke Bazar, about 20km from here, on Wednesday.


New flights

Calcutta: Air India will operate additional flights between Calcutta and Bagdogra on the first three Sundays of June to meet the summer rush. Flight IC 1721 will leave Calcutta at 1.50pm and IC 1722 will return here at 4.20pm.
