7 detained in Abhishek murder case

Siliguri, May 27: Police today detained seven persons in connection with the murder of Abhishek Chachan, a call centre employee, while launching a hunt for two others involved in the case.

The seven were picked up from the town for questioning. Nine persons who were detained earlier were released after interrogation.

“After a preliminary investigation, we are looking for two persons, who are currently missing. We have raided possible places to arrest them, but they could not be traced,” said Rahul Srivastava, the police chief of Darjeeling district, today. “After reviewing the investigation report of the special team, I can say the probe is progressing in the right direction.”

A resident of Deshbandhupara, Abhishek was abducted on May 22. The body of the Siliguri Commerce College student was recovered from Liucipokhri, about 20km from here, on Saturday.
