Dung ammo to deal with tribal leaders

Jamshedpur, May 25: It is a commando force with a difference. They will not be armed with weapons, but with cow dung.

Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP), a tribal political outfit, has raised a force, JDP Commando Force, to teach Adivasi leaders a lesson.

The force members, who are tribal youths, would be trained to throw gobar (cow dung) bombs at meetings addressed by tribal MLAs and MPs. They will not even spare the chief minister.

A brainchild of JDP national president Salkhan Murmu, the commando unit would be taught how to prepare the bombs out of cowdung and to use them during public meetings addressed by tribal political party leaders in the state.

“After an assessment, we came to a conclusion that our biggest enemies are Adivasi leaders including the MLAs, MPs and the chief minister, who have ignored the cause of tribals since the inception of the state. We are not going to tolerate them any more. Hence, we have decided to target them. Our idea is not to hurt them but rouse them to the plight of tribals,” Murmu told The Telegraph.

Elaborating on the newly constituted JDP comman- do force, the senior JDP leader said that about 1,000 tribal youths from across the state have been inducted into the brigade.

“The tribal youths, who are part of the commando force, would be given batch numbers for identification. A formal announcement of the JDP commando force would be made during the first Adivasi Kranti Mahasabha to be held at Gopal Maidan on June 30. From July 1, the force would start targeting the meetings addressed by Adivasi political party leaders,” he said.

JDP organised the first training session at Adivasi Youth Club in Karandih this afternoon. Sukhram Jonko, a retired personnel of Jharkhand Armed Police, gave necessary tips to the members of the commando force as to how to target the leaders at a mass meeting.

Jonko, who hails from Chakradharpur and is the general secretary of the JDP’s state unit, said: “Instead of the usual practice of throwing eggs and tomatoes for humiliating someone, the force members would use cowdung to target the Adivasi leaders.”

He said that JDP is forc- ed to take action against leaders as they have become “anti-tribals”.
