Women boxers
Guwahati:
Two Assam-based women boxers serving in the Sashastra Seema Bal’s Guwahati Frontier, —Salam Ibemcha Devi and Kangabam Mandakini Chanu —have qualified for the 5th World Women’s Boxing Championship to be held in Beijing from November 22 to 30. The duo have already left for Canada to participate in a coaching-cum-competition programme from May 18 to June 2.
Sepak camp
Guwahati:
The Assam Sepak Takraw Association is going to organise a state-level coaching camp at Tingkhong in Dibrugarh district from May 26. Ratan Singh and Birendra Singh will coach the participants in the 15-day camp where players from all the Upper Assam districts will take part.
Chess meet
Guwahati:
The P.C. Booroah Chess Academy here will organise a chess tournament for schoolchildren in the academy premises from June 9 to 15. The tournament will be held in two groups, Pawn (under-11) and Bishop (under-16). Players will have to collect the entry forms from the Academy on June 7 and 8.
Meeting
Guwahati:
An emergent meeting of the Assam Amateur Boxing Association will be held at the SAI Sports Complex on June 1.
