Imphal, May 23: Manipur girls advanced to the semi-finals of the 18th Sub-junior National Baseball Championship played at Mapal Kangjeibung here today.
In the quarter-final encounter, Manipur snuffed out the Delhi girls 16-0. The fleet-footed Manipur girls stole some quick runs while their Delhi counterparts were slow and sloppy throughout the matches.
Manipur wrapped up the first innings by 11-0 runs and finished the second by 5-0 runs. For the Manipur team, I. Laxmi Devi and A. Kabita Devi scored three runs each while N. Diana Devi, A.K. Satyabati Devi, Ch. Pooja Devi and I. Anandi Devi scored two runs each. W. Sofia Devi and L. Rebika Devi chipped in with a home run each.
With the win over Delhi, the Manipur girls will now meet Orissa in the semi-final.
Orissa, on the other hand, defeated Maharastra by 12-10 runs.
Earlier in the day, Goa registered a 14-0 win against Haryana to seal their semi-final berth.
In the boys section, Manipur edged past West Bengal by 8-1 runs while Orissa defeated Rajasthan by 2-0. Delhi also overpowered Madhya Pradesh by 7-3 runs to book their semi-final berth.
