HUB opens
HUB, the shopping mall on GS Road at Bhangagarh which was totally charred on April 30, resumed its business partially by opening its retail outlets Eastrends and Daily Bazar on the basement-parking floor. Mukesh Sharma, the manager of HUB, said the mall would soon be back in full business.
Bomb found
Army recovered a five kg improvised explosive device from near the Kamrup College at Baihata Chariali on Friday. The bomb was buried on the road side. In another incident, troops apprehended Ulfa militant, Pankaj Choudhury from Elamgidal area from Nalbari.
Man killed
A pedestrian, identified as Isahaque Ali, 35, died on the spot after he was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle at Basistha on Thursday night. The victim was from Dhubri district.
Election
The election for the new officer-bearers of Gauhati University’s Post-Graduate Students’ Union will be held in June.
Programme
The 10th convocation of IIT Guwahati was held on Friday. C. Karthik of the mechanical engineering department was given the President of India Gold Medal while Protik Kotkar of electronic and communication engineering department got the Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal for all-round performance.
