If every birthday is the cause of celebration then over 60 candles would spell beauty, wisdom, grace and endless experience. Each line that some call a wrinkle has its own story to tell. So who says fashion and style for those said to be over the hill is over-indulgence? Aren’t we all following the fashion and trends that they set themselves some years ago? So I am all for being stylish at 60. And here are some tips for those beautiful women to look even more beautiful…
Wear crisp saris that are neither too loud nor too understated. Try colours like blues, pinks, light yellows, light greens and fabrics like organza, cotton and silk. Pick out those old classic ones that have beautiful borders.
Kurtas too can be worn in pastel shades. Soft prints complement the dignity and grace.
The best jewellery is a strand of pearls in off-white or light pink. Bracelets and bangles in gold or any gemstones would look wonderful. A classic brooch also works well. Studs in gold and diamonds or gemstones can be worn. Avoid chandeliers.
Try long neckpieces. They might be very elaborate with stone and centre-heavy motifs or just strands of stones/pearls.
To decorate the hair, try some fresh jasmine flowers or mogra or even pears.
An embroidered handbag or a batua can add the desired glamour. Remember to carry an elegant fountain pen in it.
The watch must be a classic piece with maybe stones (diamonds or semi-precious) or a basic dial with metal/leather strap.
Wear thinner rims for your spectacles.
Wear comfortable slippers that won’t hurt your back. Wear stretched ones wherever possible.
You could even try a parasol, for style and to shield you from the summer sun.
