Ranchi, May 22: Results are out, admission worries trouble students.
With the declaration of the ICSE results, both students and parents were seen standing in long queues to procure forms for Plus Two admissions. Tanmay Sinha, a topper of St Thomas School who scored 96.4 per cent, said: “I am taking the form for Jawahar Vidya Mandir (JVM), Shyamali, which costs Rs 250. I will take direct admission tomorrow as I scored 96.4 per cent and met the criteria.”
JVM, Shyamali, was among the schools, which started distributing forms earlier. Delhi Public School started giving out forms today while forms at the DAV group of schools would be available from tomorrow. G.P. Singh, the principal of Cambrian Public School, said they started distributing forms from May 16 and the last date is June 15. Those with over 75 per cent can get direct admission in science while 65 per cent is the cut-off for commerce.
The admission test will be held on June 5. If a student is not eligible for direct admission they will have to sit for a test and get 60 per cent marks. “Students would be counselled about the subjects,” Singh added.
Singh said so far the school has sold over 2,000 forms. A student of Loreto Convent, who secured 95 per cent in her ICSE exam, said she is interested in taking admission at DPS or DAV, Shyamali. “We have Plus Two in Loreto Convent but I want to opt for these schools,” she said.
V.K. Pathak, the vice-principal of Kairali School, said they will decide on distributing forms during the meeting scheduled on May 26. “We will announce the dates after the meeting,” Pathak said.He added that the cut-off marks for science is 80 per cent while for commerce it is 75 per cent.
S.R. Modgil, the principal of DAV, Hehal, said they would publish an advertisement soon. “But we have a special provision for girls who scored over 60 per cent in arts. They would get direct admission,” said Modgil. At DAV, Hehal, the cut-off marks for science subjects are 85 per cent while for commerce and arts it is 70 per cent and 60 per cent respectively.
