Ranchi, May 22: The Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) is mulling a knowledge mission cell to boost the efficiency of the company and its executives.
The proposed cell would collect data related to work in different collieries under it. The information would help in exchanging ideas, so that an executive gets to know what is happening in different areas of the company, said T.K. Chand, the director (personnel).
“There are different kinds of managers — some innovative and trend-setters, others merely finishing the tasks assigned to them — in every company. Each manager and executive works according to his/her efficiency-level. Hence, it was felt that there should be a system to know if some special method has been more successful,” he said.
“If any new method, or new idea bears fruits in any particular mine, say Rajrappa, it will pass on to other areas through knowledge mission cell, and that idea can be adopted by employees in other areas, which will ultimately benefit the company,” Chand said.
The cell will also help in informing others what the company is all about, and anyone, either a researcher or some one curious to know about the company, would be able to procure information by simply referring to the knowledge mission cell, he added.
“We are thinking of assigning some of the tasks of the cell to outsiders. They will look at the company and its activities with a different perspective. They will also be more creative and original in their inputs because they are not employees of the company,” Chand said.
