Job scam

Agartala, May 16: The Congress has alleged irregularities in implementation of the rural employment guarantee scheme in Tripura. Contesting a recent claim by the Manik Sarkar government that the rural unemployed in West Tripura district have been given work for 50 days , Opposition leader Ratanlal Nath today accused the government of corruption.

“Funds meant for the scheme are being embezzled. The claim by the state government is totally baseless and false. A special audit should be conducted or an independent inquiry commission constituted,” Nath told the media.

The additional director of panchayat, R.L. Dhar, said the allegations were exaggerated. CPM spokesman Gautam Das denied the allegations.
