Surjeet in hospital

New Delhi, May 15: Veteran CPM leader Harkishen Singh Surjeet has been admitted to hospital with an acute respiratory problem.

Surjeet, the 92-year-old former general secretary of the CPM and a founding politburo member of the party along with Jyoti Basu, is in Metro Hospital in Noida.

He is on ventilator and his condition has been described as “serious but stable”.

The leader is in a “serious condition due to respiratory problems. He is under intensive care and his condition is stable”, a release issued by the party said.
