Job for dead staff’s son

Ranchi, May 12: Agreeing to the demands of Grade IV employees, the state government today issued an appointment letter to Avinash Pandey, the eldest son of deceased employee Bhrigu Pandey on compassionate grounds.

Avinash has been appointed as clerk in the finance department.

The move comes two months after Bhrigu Pandey succumbed to over 75 per cent burn injuries at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. On March 7, Pandey had set himself ablaze in front of the state secretariat at Project Bhavan to demand bonus payments and promotions for Grade IV employees. He was first admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in the city but later shifted to New Delhi for advanced treatment.

An appointment letter issued by the finance department specified that Avinash’s appointment was based on the condition that he would take full responsibility of his family.

“Prior to joining his duty, Avinash would have to furnish a written declaration stating that he would take full responsibility of the family members dependent on the deceased employee. In case of any lapse, the state would be free to issue a show cause notice and serve a termination letter,” the letter stressed.

However, Jharkhand Chaturth Vargiya Karamchari Sangh spokesman Jawahar Jha, stressed they would continue to put pressure on the state government to bear all the expenses of Pandey’s daughter’s marriage and also to place a statue of the deceased on the Project Bhavan premises.
