Garden set to dish out adventure

Ranchi, May 11: Want to try some adventurous sports in Ranchi? Rock Garden is the place where you can indulge in some adrenaline rushing activity.

Salto Trampoline, which gives a person a feeling of bouncing in air, was tested today at the amusement park.

Puja, a visitor from Surat, had a taste of thrill and excitement when she came forward to test the Salto Trampoline this afternoon in the presence of sports experts and garden staff.

The Salto Trampoline is supported by adjustable bungee chords, which are regulated according to the weight of persons.

This is the first of its kind sports in the state and it has been brought from Switzerland spending Rs 20 lakh.

Administrative supervisor of Rock Garden J.K. Singh said that the sports can be performed by a person with a body weight ranging between 15kg and 90kg.

“This is a very dange- rous sports and a person who wants to perform it should abide by the instructions of the experts who are always there on the field to help them,” said Singh.

“A person with heart problem should not try this sport. If somebody is under the influence of some drugs, alcohol or medication, he or she should avoid performing it as it can be hazardous such people,” Singh added.

“A person performing the sport can jump up to the height of 20ft using the rubber platform and adjustable bungee chords. They can fly in the air and safely land on the rubber sheet. It is thrilling for those with good health but dangerous for those with poor health conditions. Many a time it has proved fatal for people who have overlooked the word of caution. A person is allowed to jump for three minutes in this sport,” Ramadhir added.

Rock Garden is situated at a distance of about 4km from the district headquarters on Kanke Road. It is carved out of the rocks of the Gonda hill. At the base of the hill is Kanke dam.

The garden was dama- ged following a dispute between the garden’s management and local people over payment of entry ticket on August 15, 2005. It was re-opened last year on October 25 with the plan of adding three new attractions. Salto Trampoline is one among them and the remaining two are likely to be introduced soon.

Other two attractions of the picnic spot include a pyramid, a horror show based on an Egyptian theme, and a Vortex, where people can feel that they are flying in space.

While Salto Trampoline was tested today, the other two crowd-pullers are likely to be tested soon.
