Health camp for Heirok residents

The 34 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under Headquarters Inspector-General Assam Rifles (South) conducted a medical camp at Heirok part II village in Manipur’s Thoubal district under the Military Civic Action programme on May 4. Nearly 1,300 residents from Heirok and its surrounding villages were treated at the camp.

Five specialist doctors treated the local residents for cardiac, gynaecological, dental, skin ailments, and respiratory problems.

The residents have conveyed their deepest gratitude to the unit for conducting the medical camp and facilitating specialist opinion on health issues at their doorstep.

They have requested the Assam Rifles authorities to organise more such health camps for the benefit of the weaker sections of society.

Job rally

An army recruitment rally for Barpeta, Baksa, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Darrang, Dhubri, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kokrajhar, Nalbari and Udalguri districts of Assam will be held from May 16 to 25 at Goalpara.

The rally will be conducted for the posts of soldier (general duty), soldier (tradesman), soldier (clerk or storekeeper), soldier (technical) and nursing assistant.

A common entrance test will be held for selected candidates on the last day of the drive. The candidates should not be born before May 17, 1987, or after November 17, 1990. Education qualification for a soldier (general duty) is matriculate or above for general candidates, while tribal candidates should have passed Class VII and above. Reporting time for the rally is 6am.

The selection for soldier (general duty) and tradesman for Chirang, Darrang and Dhubri districts will be held on May 16 and for Goalpara and Udalguri districts on May 17.

For Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar districts, the drive will be held on May 18.

For Kamrup and Nalbari districts it will be held on May 19, followed by Barpeta and Baksa districts on May 20. The sons of serving armed forces personnel, ex-servicemen, widows, war widows and NCC candidates as well as soldier (clerk), soldier technical and nursing assistants can participate in the rally on May 22.

Feast for all

In a bid to promote peace and harmony among the people in Manipur, the commander, 9 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), reached out and organised a barakhana for the residents of Moidangpok and its neighbouring villages.

The headquarters, 9 Sector Assam Rifles, has been a source of motivation and inspiration to the people of Manipur.
