Balurghat tops in cleanliness

Balurghat, May 7: The Balurghat Municipality has come first in the “clean and attractive city” and the “cleanest and most citizen-friendly municipal office” competitions in north Bengal. The contests were adjudged by the change management unit of the Kolkata Urban Services for the Poor, funded by the Department for International Development of the UK.

The chairperson of the RSP-run municipality, Sucheta Biswas, said she was proud of her staff and the residents. “After all, but for their co-operation we would not have got the award.”

After attaining this feat among the 14 municipalities in north Bengal, the town is now awaiting the results for the whole of the state.
