Jamshedpur, May 6: For those who took the matric and Intermediate exams this year, the mobile phone will serve as a boon to rid them of worries related to results.
While May 10 has been fixed for declaration of matriculation exam results, May 31 has been set for the declaration of results of the Intermediate examinations.
To end problems faced each year by students who are not able to check results on time due to overcrowding at Internet cafes, the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has come up with the idea of sending students a text message.
This would help them know their results as soon as they are declared.
With link failure and line congestion being the common problems, the council is hopeful that the results will reach the eager students well on time this year.
Earlier, this provision was only restricted to the government telecom service provider, BSNL, but this year the education council has been approached by a number of private telecom operators to enable the tech-savvy feature.
“We are in the process of tying up with leading private telecom operators to provide us with the much needed student-friendly service. Youngsters will be much relieved on getting to know their results at the earliest,” Shaligram Yadav, the chairman of JAC, told The Telegraph.
Till now, service providers Airtel and Reliance have approached the council to collaborate with them at no extra charge.
With the JAC giving out the tentative dates for the declaration of the results, the stage looks set for more private operators to approach them shortly.
“This is their role in helping us meet the deadlines and to ensure that students do not have to lose sleep over their results. With this user-friendly feature, students can rest assured that the results will reach them as soon as they are declared,” added the chairman of JAC.
Touted as a business tactic to ensure assured benefits, the telecom service providers are playing it safe.
In place for just one day when the results are out, the feature has been specially designed to relieve students of the immense pressure which builds up on them in the wake of result-declaration time.
“It is great to know that I will get an intimation on my cell phone in no time after results are declared by the council. Last year my sister faced a lot of problem while searching for her results on the council website,” said Pushpa Singh, an Intermediate examinee of Jamshedpur Women’s College.
A copy of the result sheet of both examinations would be handed over to the private telecom service operators after it is formally declared.
The results would also be pasted on the council board in Ranchi.
“The service providers would get it just a little later after the official declaration of the results. They would get a copy so that they can pass it on the students,” added Yadav.
