A mother-daughter duo were arrested on Sunday on charges of stealing a pair of diamond earrings from a Camac Street shop four days ago.

Debjani Sen, in her mid-50s, and Priya, 26, stole the earrings after entering the shop posing as customers, said deputy commissioner (south) Rajesh Subarna.“Their act of stealing was captured on CCTV cameras,” said an officer.

Photographs of the Lake Gardens residents were passed on to all officers and constables of Shakespeare police station.

On Sunday morning, a plainclothesman noticed the duo entering a Camac Street mall. “We rushed to the spot with policewomen and netted Debjani and Priya,” the officer added.
