Fillip for Tata Steel
New Delhi, May 2: The Supreme Court today granted an approval to Tata Steel’s prospecting licence for mining in Bailadila block in Chhattisgarh for its steel plant at the state’s Dantewada district. A special forest bench, headed by Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishanan, granted the approval and said the company should approach director-general, forest, for clearance. Tata Steel has also obtained its first licence to mine in the UK as part of a plan to produce its own raw materials. Tata’s Corus Group unit will explore and may develop an underground mine at Margam, Wales.
Ford plan
New Delhi, May 2: US car maker Ford Motor aims to enter the Indian small car market by 2010. The company plans to make India a regional car and engine export hub. The company had committed an additional investment of Rs 2,000 crore earlier this year.

New Delhi, May 2: Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (Iffco) subsidiary Iffco Kisan Sanchar has made its foray into rural mobile telephony in partnership with Bharti Airtel.

Mumbai, May 2: Jaiprakash Associates will acquire a 45 per cent stake in Prize Petroleum Company for an undisclosed sum.

New York, May 2: Infosys may be forced to call itself something else in France, as a court there has found its use of this name infringing upon the trademark as well as business and corporate identities of another firm Infosys France.
