Bengal singer to regale music connoisseurs

Jamshedpur, April 30: The music enthusiasts of the steel city are set to get a treat from Bengal on May 5.

For, renowned Adivasi baul Rathin Kisku would perform live at the maiden Santhali Filmfare Award to be organised by Pt Raghunath Academy of Santhali Cinema and Art in the steel city on May 5.

Inspired by the Bengali baul songs, Kisku has modified it and his renditions are known as Santhali baul songs, which have a flavour of the soil.

Originally from Birbhum in Bengal, Kisku’s growing popularity took him to Germany, Austria, Italy and Bangladesh.

“It was a great experience to sing there. People were so appreciative,” said Kisku.
