Ranchi, April 30: Chief minister Madhu Koda today flagged off the “Bharat Nirman Jan Suchna Abhiyan” at a function at Sisai block of Gumla district.
The campaign aims at creating awareness among villagers about various welfare schemes.
Inaugurating the five-day-long campaign, Koda said that the UPA government at the Centre had been carrying out numerous welfare schemes. But the villagers fail to make the most of them due to lack of awareness, he added.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB), which is organising the campaign, has put up several stalls for informing people about several welfare schemes, including National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, National Rural Health Mission, National Rural Electrification Mission, women empowerment, drinking water and sanitation programmes.
“Several NGOs and government departments have also put up their stalls at the function,” said Ashish Lakra, assistant director, PIB, Ranchi.
Under the campaign, selected artistes of song and drama division of the Union government would visit villages in the region and use folk art as a medium to create awareness among them.
