Power performance for special day

Ranchi, April 29: Bhangra, Rajasthani culture to an English play — students performed at special celebrations at their respective schools.

A variety of entertainment programmes marked the silver jubilee celebrations of Army School and annual day of Kendra Vidyalaya, Dipatoli, today.

Silver jubilee was celebrated to mark the 25th year of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) at Army School. Chief guest was the chairman of Army School Brigadier Sagar Singh.

The audience remained glued to their seats as students of both schools showcased cultural items.

The Punjabi folk dance, Bhangra, entertained students attired in traditional costumes. Through their performance they depicted mustard fields of Punjab highlighting village culture.

This was followed a “space odyssey” where students of Class V and VI displayed spacecraft and enacted the role of astronauts.

“The entire show was prepared by students. They took little help from teachers,” said Saijal Singh, a Class V student.

A live band comprising school students rocked the stage performing popular hits while a performance from the Merchant of Venice enthralled those who love theatre.

Meanwhile, at Kendriya Vidyalaya, the students reworked the magic of Rajasthan through their folk dance.

The principal of the school, J. Kujur, said the main aim of organising the annual function was to bring the talent of students.

“Throughout the year, students participate in different functions and they need to be given a platform. Thus, we decided to organise the function,” added Kujur.
