Mumbai, April 28: Two Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group firms — Reliance Energy and Reliance Natural Resources — have come out with robust numbers.
Reliance Energy has recorded a 31 per cent growth in standalone net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2008, at Rs 311 crore against Rs 237 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Income during this period went up 5 per cent to Rs 1,977 crore from Rs 1,890 crore.
Group company Reliance Natural Resources Ltd reported a 44 per growth in quarterly net profit at Rs 10.6 crore against Rs 7.3 crore.
For Reliance Energy, annual net profit on a standalone basis was up 35 per cent to Rs 1,085 crore from Rs 801 crore in 2006-07.
Total income for the year was up 14 per cent to Rs 7,501 crore from Rs 6,575 crore.
Reliance Natural Resources declared a net profit of Rs 68.6 crore for the year ended March 31, 2008, against Rs 28.9 crore in the previous year, an increase of 137 per cent. Total income was higher at Rs 202.8 crore for the year against Rs 150.3 crore in the previous year.
Commenting on the performance, Reliance Energy said that it had sold 9,292 million units of electricity in 2007-08 against 8,766 million units in the previous year, an increase of 6 per cent.
Aggregate revenue from energy sales for the year was Rs 4,920 crore against Rs 3,611 crore in the previous year, an increase of 36 per cent. At a meeting held today, the board of directors approved a final dividend of Rs 6.30 per share, amounting to a payout of Rs 173 crore for the year ended March 31, 2008.
