CPM man killed

Midnapore, April 28: A CPM activist was killed and another seriously injured when Jharkhand Party (Aditya Group) supporters fired on a procession of over 200 motorcycle-borne CPM men in a village in West Midnapore’s Lalgarh this afternoon.

Peosi Chalak, 23, a member of the CPM’s Kanchannagar branch committee, died on the spot.

Allies clash

Calcutta: Fifteen people, including two children, were injured when armed CPM and RSP supporters clashed at Amjhara in Basanti in South 24-Parganas, 70km from Calcutta. The children, aged 12 and 13, were struck by bomb splinters. The RSP has called a Basanti bandh on Tuesday and Trinamul has supported it.
